Malcolm Thomson saw his side suffer their second consecutive defeat in his first I-League stint with Salgaocar FC... Mohun Bagan defeated Salgaocar FC 4-2 in a round two clash at the Barasat stadium in Kolkata to climb on top of the I-League standings on Saturday evening.
Katsumi Yusa (9'), Cornell Glen (28'), Luciano Sobrosa (33') and Balwant Singh (48') gave the home side a four-goal cushion before the visitors rallied back with two goals scored by Darryl Duffy (69') and Gurjinder Kumar (86').

Four changes were made in the home team's starting line-up as Shilton Paul made way for Debjit Majumder in between the sticks. Kean Lewis, Manish Bhargav and Sanjay Balmuchu were replaced by Sobrosa, Pronay Halder and Azharuddin Mallick. The away side opted for one change as Nicolau Colaco was replaced by Leny Pereira in defence. Bagan drew first blood as early as the ninth minute when Katsumi sneeked in to head home after Dhanachandra Singh's long throw-in was not cleared by Salgaocar goalkeeper Karanjit Singh.

Six minutes later Salgaocar had a chance to equalise. Duffy beat the offside trap after a good through-ball by Jackichand Singh but the Scot lost the one-on-one battle with Majumder with the rival goalkeeper emerging victorious in the tussle. Glen was brought down inside the box by Gurjinder and the former Trinidad and Tobago international stepped up to convert the resultant penalty in the 28th minute that doubled his side's lead.
Five minutes later,Sobrosa nodded in from a tight angle from Yusa flag kick to help Sen's side take a three-goal lead into the break.
Balwant nodded home a curling delivery by Yusa in the 48th minute to make it 4-0 for the home side. He should have scored his second when Glen played him through with a long ball.
Duffy got on the score-sheet in the 69th minute as he slotted home from a Jackichand Singh cross.Gurjinder made amends for his mistakes as he found the back of the net with a peach of a shot in the 86th minute. The score-line could have been much worse for Salgaocar as Glen missed a couple of chances at the death. The Maroon and Greens from Kolkata held on to go top of the table with six points from two matches. Salgaocar are yet to open their account and have suffered back-to-back defeats this season.
